Michael J. Fox has been a beloved figure in Hollywood for decades, entertaining audiences with his iconic roles in movies and TV shows. However, his battle with Parkinson’s disease has added another layer to his story.
Diagnosed in the early ’90s, Fox has since become an advocate for those living with the condition. Sadly, he recently admitted that he doesn’t expect to live to 80 due to the progression of his disease.
Parkinson’s disease often limits life expectancy, with 61 being the best-case scenario for most. Fox has been candid about the challenges he faces daily. “It’s getting harder and harder,” he said. “Things are getting tougher, but that’s just how it is. Who do I talk to about it?”
A recent surgery to remove a benign growth from his spine has left Fox more vulnerable to falls, resulting in several fractures. Despite this, he reflected that people with Parkinson’s die *with* the disease, not *from* it.
Fox described the constant pain as waves that feel like earthquakes, not from movement but from freezing. The energy builds up, creating a burning sensation. Though it’s painful, he remains resilient. “You deal with it and move on,” he says, showing strength in the face of adversity.
