Dogs are such amazing animals. They have incredible instincts and senses that we humans lack — and often times they can be life-saving.
That’s the story of one heroic dog, who saved a Philadelphia neighborhood from a potentially deadly explosion.
Chanell Bell told a story on Christmas Eve about her dog Kobe, calling him “the Dog that saved the block before Christmas.”
In the video, Chanell remembers watching her four-year-old Husky as he kept digging a huge hole in her front yard. She mentioned that this was “not like him” at all.
“I trust his judgment because that isn’t his typical behavior, and he is usually right,” Chanell told SWNS. “When I saw the hole, I realized it was odd behavior for my dog. My intuition told me to check it.”
Chanell recently had a gas leak at her house. After her heater started acting up, she checked for gas levels with a gas reader, but it showed everything was fine.
However, Kobe was still curious and kept searching in the same area. Trusting her instincts, Chanell decided to check the hole with the gas reader again. This time, it picked up gas — a dangerous gas leak that could be really harmful.
Chanell shared with SWNS, “We were warned that it might lead to really serious health problems, such as breathing difficulties, brain injuries, and even death.”
The teams worked hard for three days to repair the gas leak, mentioning that even turning on a light could have triggered a huge explosion. Thanks to Kobe detecting the gas early, everyone in the neighborhood was kept safe.
Chanell expressed in the video, “It’s honestly incredible. I’m so grateful to God and so thankful for my little boy,” referring to Kobe.
The remarkable story went viral, and many praised Kobe as a hero. Many suggested that the story was worthy of a children’s book, so Chanell wrote and published a book titled The Dog That Saved The Block Before Christmas.
Kobe also has his own website, where you can find his social media links, buy him a treat on Amazon, and even buy the gas level reader seen in the video — you never know when you’ll need it.
That story is amazing! It’s really sad to imagine what could have happened if the gas leak hadn’t been found, but luckily, the clever dog Kobe came to the rescue!
